Where do you live and what is your home range?

I live in Calista , about 40 kms south of Perth , Jarrahdale is my home Range about 37 kms
From my home.

When did you first start benchrest?

I first started in Benchrest in 1977.

Who helped you in the early days?

At that time both Ray Edwards & Doug Barnes were a great help.

What was your first BR rifle?

My first BR rifle was a Remington 700 Varmint Special
In .222 Rem. I still have that action , I use it on my Unlimited rig.

When did you get your first HOF point?

I received my first HOF point in 1993 , winning 200 yds LV.

What year did you qualify?

I qualified into the HOF in 2017 after attending 29 Nationals.

Where do you shoot most?

I only shoot at Jarrahdale in WA , but conditions are usually varied enough to give plenty of different conditions for practice.

Which ranges do you like and dislike and why?

I like Jarrahdale, Para, Canberra, Silverdale, Brisbane, Springsure, Little River, I found Monarto SA to be very tricky, but I would like to shoot there again & see if I could work it out.

Which matches do you like most each year?

Have you shot overseas, when, where, how did you go?

I have never shot overseas.

What is your current equipment?

I have a Stolle Panda for LB & HB in a Kelbly stock & a Nightforce 42 scope, my Sporter is a sleeved Remington in a Kelbly stock & Leupold 36 scope, Unlimited is a Remington action with a Sightron 36 scope. Krieger barrels are used in all rifles.

What is your philosophy for benchrest?

My philosophy for BR is NEVER EVER give up, even if you are not shooting well, try to learn something from the experience. When shooting on a Range where you have not shot before, or conditions are a bit rough, regard it as challenge. Don’t worry how others are shooting just concentrate on your own shooting.

What advice would you give to new shooters?

For a new shooter if they can team up with a Mentor it would be a great help, most experienced shooters are willing to assist a new shooter. Watch what other shooters do & ask questions.
