LaBounty Bolt Fixture & Action Truing sleeve

I recently obtained these products from the USA and I thought they may be of interest to some of the DIY benchresters!

The LaBounty bolt fixture is a simple and rigid holding fixture that makes it easy and fast to set up a rifle bolt to true the face for accurising, to open the bolt face up for magnum cases, or to machine the face for bushing for smaller cases such as the PPC. Whilst firmly held in place, the rear of the locking lugs can also be trued.

There are a rather detailed set of instruction explaining use of the fixture, as well as the type of toolholders to use and how to make the truing cuts required. I found these instructions clear and machined a Remington XP-100 as explained in about 30 minutes. I think I could do this a second time much quicker.

The second part of the kit is the LaBounty Action Truing Sleeve. This item makes it relatively simple to machine the locking lug recesses of Remington 700 type actions and its variants such as the Stolle.

There are two parts to this fixture, a ground bar (actually a number of bars in different sizes) which is a press fit in the action. This is used to allow the second part of the fixture, the truing sleeve to be used. This is sacrificial tooling and after firmly attaching to the outside of the action, a light cut is taken on the sleeve. After this cut is made, the action can be removed from the mandrel and the sleeve dialled in on a 4 jaw chuck. Then the locking lugs and barrel threads can be tidied up.

I found these tools well made, easy to use and produced first class results. These items are in my opinion well worth the investment if you have the need to do the occasional truing job on say a Remington action.
