Denis was a real character and barrel making pioneer.
I found some pics of Denis in Finland at WBC2 in 1993, winning National Experimental at Silverdale in 1997, and with one of his vintage motorcycles.

It is indeed a sad day when one of the giants of the sport of benchrest passes on to a better place.
Those that knew him would remember Denis as the quiet bloke from NSW who started making barrels for both benchrest and other shooting sports "way back when".
Always a tough competitor, especially in the experimental class, Denis achieved the highest honor of membership to the Australian Hall of Fame for benchrest.
The late Alan Peake and I visited Denis after a Silverdale shoot, and he showed us the processes involved in making stainless match barrel. No secrets, no black magic, just a genuine enthusiasm and pride in workmanship.
Sincere condolences to the family - rest easy old mate.

So sorry to hear of Dennis's passing. Have a lot good memories right from the time he started benchrest. Dennis made shooting a lot more enjoyable with his presence. Condolences to his family.
