Congratulations Fergus

Fergus Bailey wins the Harry Madden 2 Gun Championships and also the Harry Madden trophy for the 200 yard aggregate in Heavy Varmint at Brisbane this weekend.
Well done Fergus!
Consistent shooting overall but really came in hard winning the HV grand Agg and especially the 200 yards. His first big win and about time too as he has been knocking at the door for sometime now.

Something new must have sparked a difference on Sunday as he left the field for dead !!! :)

Thanks guys. When I was shooting yesterday afternoon, I was just hoping to stay ahead and win the Harry Madden trophy. I was very surprised to find I also won the grand and 2 gun.

If I knew changing from a Leupold to a March between Grand aggs made that much difference, I would have done it a lot sooner :-)

Yeah, well....congrats on a great win.

Now you know why the A team in South Africa all used the same sort of scope.

Good News

Congratulations Fergus on this overdue success. It sounds like you blitzed 'em.

This is a great match to have in your win list.

QLD 4 Gun

Congratulations to Paul Sullivan (again :). Winner of the QLD State 4 Gun.
Today Paul won Experimental at Belmont with another masterful effort with his rail gun. That rail gun was hot and using his own Superman bullets too. They are really hot. I was the Range Officer so I know. I watched what happened and wind changed left and bullets still go in the hole. The wind blew right and bullet went in the hole. Often !!!!!!

I also want to say a big congratulations to my darling Annie who eventually came 2nd. I say eventually because all of those who were in Brisbane this weekend know what happened. Annie won Sporter, was third in LV, doing well in HV and then she crossfired 2 shots at 200 yards. There are no excuses for crossfiring and she doesn't make any despite running around like a blue arse fly doing everything. BUT, because she got back to 2nd place overall it was a great example of ......never, ever give up. Normally a .600" group at 200yards that turns into a 4.600" group because of the crossfire penalties would cause some to give up. Not Annie. She soldered on even more determined and today in Experimental class steered her LV with finness and determination to a very nice 3rd place in the Grand agg leaving a lot of rail gun shooters in her wake. So in the end she came 2nd in the 4 Gun. Well deserved and a great example of tenacity.

3rd place in the 4 Gun was Richard Drozdowski from Armidale in NSW. Richard shot very, very well all weekend and his performances lately have stunned a lot of watchers. He was 2nd in Sporter, 4th in HV and 2nd in the 3 gun.

Well done to all. It was the usual "tough week at the office" up here at Belmont. We had 2 guests from New Caledonia visiting with Annie and I and they shot very well all week. Francois Ductane finished 10th in the 4 gun and Enrico Ceretti finished 11th.

Max is on the ball

Just as well Max Coady is on the ball. He emailed and pointed out the penalty should have been 2" not 4" or 2 x 1/2 MOA for the two shots crossfired. Barry Edgley was the scorer. Would have thought the former Nat Benchrest Sub committee chairman would know that!!! :)
Anyway Annie didn't have time to think this weekend so she missed that.
The 1 MOA penalty is actually for shots over the border. The 1/2 MOA penalty is for crossfired shots that are reported.
Anyway it's too late now, the protest period is well over. Beside the 4 Gun result does not change.

Well Done

Very well done Sully and Annie and a great result for Richard. A good weekend for you all.

As to the crossfire mix up, I discovered a few years ago that I could no longer rely on my memory for rule book queries and go to the rule book before making any decisions these days. Age is catching up with me, I know.

Us also, Tony

Yep,
Us too. Time to retire and just shoot. Someone else can handle the rules.

Who was the scorer?

It would be nice to see them whilst we are still young.
