GOOD AMMO

Good Day guys
This question has not come up I think is a hard one
Why do you think one lot of ammo shoots well in some guns and not in others
Is good ammo just that
Will a bad barrels shoot good ammo better ????

THANKS

Good Ammo (rimfire)

Hi Chris,
I am no expert but I have given this some thought, I think ammo shoots differently in different rifles mainly due to chambering, that is the distance the projectile is seated from the lands will effect accuracy, i think also they way in which the lead ring is formed would be different with different projectiles.
By good ammo do you mean expensive? expensive ammo is made with tighter tolerences, I was told one that the more the machine wears the cheaper the ammo becomes.
Good ammo cheap or expensive is good if it shoots well in your rifle, maybe not good for the next rifle as you know. A bad barrell will shoot bad all the time otherwise it's not really a bad barrell if you can use 'good' ammo in it that it likes and it shoots well it's not a bad barrell anymore.

Just my thoughts...

ring

Hi Chris,
Apparantly they all get a lead ring, if it builds thick enough it can effect accuracy by making the projectile smaller than the bore, I think each rifle is different. Some people like to shoot thier rifles in, so bang a heap through before competition and some dont, I think the lead ring is the reason accuracy drops off and the barrel needs cleaning. Just my thoughts though.
