Do the results from 2009 nationals, have any effect on WBC points for team selection after South Africa? Thanks Jim
is there any WBC team selection points up for grabs is a better way of putting it?
happy for anyone else to add to this if I have misremembered anything.
I expect that the LV and HV at the 2009 nationals will form one leg of the qualification for WBC 11 in France and also the next Pacific Regional which I believe is in NZ.
In the recent past, team selection for the WBC and Oceania teams has been taken from results of the previous 2 nationals. Now that WBC requires firm team details a minimum 6 months before the shoot, it is a lot less likely that both nationals will count, but the earlier of the two is pretty much guaranteed to be included.
(Note on the above – Oceania competition is now defunct as far as BR goes and replaced by the PRC)
I though the 2009 group nationals were at Belmont, with the 2010 group nationals to be held at Silverdale. At least that’s my recollection of what I was told after the Perth meeting.
Would be great if someone who attended the last delegates meeting would chime in to confirm the rotation.
Now I'm confused.
I was told the BR Nationals for 2009 will be held at Belmont and I've
started to plan holidays around Easter as I plan to attend.
Perhaps one of the State delegates can jump in for the true answer?

I am a delegate and I have posted here the Nationals locations for the next few years.
The Belmont Range is in Brisbane and they are holding the 2009 Nationals
The info I posted is direct from the Benchrest meeting minutes
i realize that the 2009 nationals are to late to be a qualifier for Africa so what are the qualifiers for France. Are they the 2009 2010 nationals for deffinate ? Thanks Jim
2009 - Brisbane
2010 - Silverdale **
2011 - Melbourne **
2012 - Sth Australia **
2013 - Western Australia **
2014 - ACT **
**These are subject to the host state actually wanting to run the event.
As for the next Nationals 2009 being selection for the following WBC in 2011, I wouldn't be so sure.
I would think the answer would be 'NO', unless everyone decides that we should select the team 12 months before the WBC is being held. I would think this will be decided at the meeting or discussions prior to the Nationals in Brisbane.
However I would assume it would be used for the selection for the Pacific Regional.
This isnt a shit stir but how do I plan my shoots if I dont know wats wat before its done.Surely we need to know in advance so things can be planned or allowed for. Thanks Jim
I suggest you talk to your State delegate and they will inform you what the dates are.
Also if you want an agenda item put forward (now is the time) then I suggest you also talk to your State delegate. You can discuss it at club level first, then have it as an agenda item if you wish.
Unless otherwise informed, it has always been the two Nationals before the WBC event.
So for the 2011 WBC, it will be 2010 Nationals and 2011 Nationals
WBC's are generally sometime between July and October.
If the WBSF (World Benchrest Committee) change when they want teams selected by, then here in Australia, we will most likely have to change when the teams are selected. It isn't easy, as it all depends on when the host country applies to hold the Championship, which dictates the selection time frame.
As is the case with the selection for the WBC in 2009. The 2nd leg of the selection was changed to the Harry Madden, to ensure we met the mid January deadline (something like that) that we had to advise our team members.
So if you wanted to be in consideration for the WBC in 2009, you had to shoot in WA and now have to shoot in Brisbane in November. Everyone who went to WA was informed at the shoot.
The next WBC in 2011 is in France I believe. It will depend on when they decide to hold this event, as to how we come up with the selection team for Australia. Sometimes it has to change, which is no fault of the State delegates or the Benchrest Chairman.
So as you can see things aren't as simple as some people think!!
I suggest if you want a more predictable outcome you could move to the Northern hemisphere!!
Micheal I live 7 hrs from Adelaide my club is Whyalla.I havent shot in Whyalla for 30+years so discussions at club matches are rare.In my opinion Aussie day is the big shoot and unless the nationals are close they hold no intrest for me unless there are WBC point up for grabs .I'm taking it that 2009 has nothing of interest for me.Surely the first qualifier could be decided in advance like I said this is not a shit stir just trying to work out my time table. Thanks again Jim

1. 2010 Nationals will be at Silverdale I believe.
2. 2009 Nationals are too late to select teams hence Madden 2008 is the 2nd leg.
