IRB Nationals

The SSAA IRB and Group Nationals are scheduled for the May day long weekend (QLD long weekend) in 2011 at Belmont (Brisbane). The dates are April 29 and 30 plus May 1st and 2nd. (Frid, Sat, Sun & Mon). Practice on Thursday 28th.
The IRB part of this is the first qualifying event to determine the Australian team for the 2012 World Championships.

The problem is that Easter in 2011 is very late. It turns out to be the weekend before this event. There will be some other events on at Easter time like the SSAA centrefire Nationals in Melbourne and the TRA Rimfire Nationals in Melbourne and some people have been asking which way round the programming will be for this IRB event.
So Mark Brown is looking for feedback.

Last years event had the first 2 days as IRB and the next 2 days as Rimfire groups (both classes). Practice day precedes this as always. So should the program be reversed for 2011 so the IRB is shot on the Sunday and Monday (May 1-2)? This would allow more time for people to get to Brisbane if they had been in Melbourne the weekend before. One problem highlighted with this is the fact that the practice day still can only be on the Thursday 28th.

So: option 1) April 29-30 Rimfire groups, May 1-2 for the IRB
option 2) April 29-30 for IRB and May 1-2 for Rimfire groups (same as 2009 was)

Mark would appreciate thoughts.

IRB - Group Nats

Hi All

I would prefer the IRB first, its such an important match for those of us that want to make the Aus team for 2012, that practice day then comp would be ideal.
If the Group Nats were first, that will mean all our rifles are adjusted for 100m shooting, with no chance to adjust and re-sight in before the IRB starts. I bet there is a least 1 person that has a tough first target because they could not get sighted in perfectly with the time allowed.
