Silverdale Range recently hosted the NSW IRB Championships. This drew competitors from around the country to contest one of the premier Rimfire competitions. Conditions were “tricky” to say the least, and shooters needed their wits about them to detect subtle changes in wind direction and strength. Cold conditions early in the day left many claiming that their choice of ammunition was not performing as expected, and radical re-thinking was required. A feature of the contest was one of our junior shooters, Hannah Seaman, from West Wyalong, who finished 3rd on Day 1, and 4th in the Grand total, leaving many of the State’s top shooters in her wake. Well done, Hannah! The overall winner of the contest was “Mr Consistency”, Jim Smith, from Blayney, who conducted a “Masterclass” in how to combat frustrating conditions. Congratulations, Jim! We look forward to holding the IRB competitions in the future, as, like Hunterclass, it’s a “shoot-for-score” event (shooting for bullseyes), and is a ton of fun for anyone with a rimfire rifle. Watch your Journal for competition dates!
Thanks to all for your attendance and good sportsmanship!
