The NSW Rimfire Benchrest Championships 2012 were recently held at Silverdale Range, and, as usual, were hotly contested. There is nothing like Spring to guarantee a blustery competition, and Silverdale 2012 did not disappoint! Day 1 saw the “Light “ competition, and it was a case of “hang onto your hats”, as gale-force winds tore through the range. This was very pleasing for the spectators, though not a view shared by those on the firing-line at the time! These conditions tend to extract the very best from each competitor, as they struggle for supremacy. A good all-round shooter needs to be able to give a good account of him/herself in any conditions, and those who train for just such an eventuality reap the rewards. Day 2 featured the “Heavy” class, and though not as difficult as Day 1, conditions were by no means easy. Fellowship and sportsmanship were a feature of the competition, and it was indeed a pleasure to host such a decent bunch of people over a very pleasurable competition. Thanks to all for your participation!
