Annie and I just want to congratulate everybody involved in the recent RBA Nationals held at the Melbourne International Shooting Club. That would be the event organisers, The Victorian TRA and Bill Collaros and his RBA group.
It was one of the most enjoyable benchrest shoots which we have attended for years. Obviously things like this do not just happen so a very big thankyou to Richard Lightfoot and all the Melbourne crew helping him achieve that. Good planning and a lot of work. It also hasn't gone unnoticed that the scores shot by most of these people were below their usual Par. That's a tough deal as it was a qualifying shoot for team selection to next World Championships. I am sure that everybody sees and understand this and says a big thanks.
We found it a really good mix of peoples who may see their core events or disciplines as something else. For example there were many people there who are TRA members who shoot TRA style benchrest at their local clubs and this was their first RBA event. Then there were many who generally shoot mostly SSAA benchrest events. Then there were the diehard RBA followers. I heard no bitching or infighting and overall found everyone very relaxed, friendly and generous and respectful.
Overall a totally refreshing air about it. Congratulations to all including the winners. I think this weekend had no losers. For those who could not make it you missed a great time.
Stuart & Annie
Yes it was a great event; I did not get to spend much time talking to people, but enjoyed my time.
I spent allot of my time with the scoring team, and what a great job they did. A big thankyou to Dennis and his crew.
I really hope I find that the electronic scoring system is good, because most shooters do not understand the effort that goes in the background to get some 450 Targets scored and results out. Especially in the tough wind conditions, needing a calculator to count the dropped points.
The Electronic scoring system was producing results for a detail of 20 shooters in 20 minutes, closer to 30 minutes for a detail of 40.
