Fellow Shooters,
In reference to recent comments posted on Benchrest Bulletin on how we can attract more shooters to our sport, if anyone ever recalls, Peter Armstrong mentioned several times, when the big shift started within the Sydney Branch, about concentrating on our own Benchrest Shooting and possibly looking to start our own range.
Well this has now come to a reality with the settling of a 15yr lease on 100 acres of pristine bush setting! Construction of the “Sign In’ office and the Men/Women bathroom facility (yet to be fitted out) has been built with electrical works going in this weekend.
After many meetings between Peter, Kerry, Jason and John we have put into place for all competitions that all yardages will have Top 10 patches with the Top 3 to receive medals. We will have a $1.00 all day cup of coffee/tea on the firing line and will supply a free BBQ breakfast at each competition. Lunch and dinners will also be available at the range at very reasonable prices.
We are just this week finalising our Insurances for Colo Benchrest Rifle Club and then will be affiliating with an Association other than the SSAA. This will give CBRC an approval by Registry as a registered club to shoot competition along with hunting/vermin control with a Genuine Reason to hold a Shooters License.
A proposed shooting calendar is attached and we at CBRC will cater for both centrefire and rimfire along with an added attraction of having a ‘factory’ and ‘custom’ class to be run together at our monthly Club Comps in the hope of attracting more shooters over to our sport.
We are implementing a Junior Program and Junior only competition with favourable responses by the Juniors and their parents we have approached to date.
We encourage all to put forward your thoughts and responses on this forum or alternatively contact us at cbrc1@bigpond.com – weekend working bees are carried out almost every weekend so please send in your contact details and availability if you would like to help out at anytime. We encourage happy team building for one of the best ranges in the country! Just remember, this range is for ‘us’ and it is up to all of us to help and support CBRC so can come back the days of pork snags and a few beverages at the end of the day.
Kind regards,
Peter, Kerry, Jason and John
How good is this for the sport of bench rest well done to all involved and I wish you all the best in your future endeavours and as a friend of mine always says may all your shots be dots
Just a quick question is this the range you were all speaking of as an alternative to the Sydney range

Glad to hear that its almost up and running. When do you think the range will open? If you need some photos of the place, i have a drone that could be used to take some aerial photos of the place to show everyone what it looks like. Will CRBC have its own Facebook group or website or will all info regarding comps still be on this site?
Cheers Michael
Should be finished in a week or so.
