12-42x56 nightforce scopes. Anyone use these?
If so what do you think, glass, low light, and do they have enough elevation for 200 yds rimfire. Thoughts please.
Kim
When I was setting up an Anschutz 64 MPR for 200 fly I tried a Leupold VX3 8.5-25x50, with standard scope rings, which has about 80 MOA of vertical adjustment. That only just got me on paper at 200yds with standard velocity ammo. I ended up having to buy a set of Sports match adjustable rings. Theres no reason why the 12-42 won't be any good, but I think you will need the adjustable scope rings.
For 200 yrds i wack a couple of shims of tinny under the back of the rail as i set the centre of adjustment for 50m:)
Nightforce COMPETITION FIXED 42X44 is what i would like. Just can't justify splashing the cash right now though.
45 minutes of angle of elevation adjustment.
What are peoples thoughts on this scope also.
I only use Nightforce competition scopes on my BR rifles with the exception of IS, because of weight and non available reticle on low weight Nitghs.
The 42x44 is a very good scope, just a little behind in terms of IQ vs the 15x55.
Before, I used March ones, but realised after my training sections, with Nightforce my eyes were less tired. Switch them all since.
The 42x44 no longer appears on Nightforce site, so maybe you are only looking for available stock in shops. Act quickly...
Best solution is to use the elevation adjustable sports match rings. Then you can set scope 0 at 100m using the rings adjustment and have the most scope travel while shooting
50-200m
Should be around 25-26 MOA. 14-15 inch up from 50m.

You would need MOA built into your rail.
Only 40 MOA adjustment in the scope.
